Red Cedar Ensemble Brings Chamber Music to Eastern Iowa

For 14 years, classical music has flourished in the seemingly unlikely location of Eastern Iowa thanks to Red Cedar Chamber Music.  Local classical musicians Jan Boland  and John Dowdall are the core ensemble of the non-profit organization.  Flutist Boland and classical guitar player Dowdall have performed as a duo for more than 30 years.  Supplemented with various combinations of additional musicians on strings and clarinet, Red Cedar Chamber music has performed everywhere from the small towns of Iowa to area schools to  European concert halls.  Boland is also an accomplished classical composer.  One of her compositions leads off the Red Cedar Trio's award-winning CD of Czech-inspired 21st century chamber music.  Recorded with violist David Miller, the CD appears on the Fleur de Son classical music recording label.   Red Cedar's core duo records exclusively for Fleur de Son.
